About Dr. Micha Abeles

A former professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut (UConn) Health Center, Dr. Micha Abeles has emerged as an authority on fibromyalgia and systemic lupus erythematosus. While teaching at UConn for nearly four decades, he also pursued groundbreaking research into the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other rheumatologic conditions. Between 1980 and 2016, Dr. Micha Abeles conducted numerous medical trials sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry that resulted in major advancements in treatments and helped launch medications such as Remicade, Humira, and Enbrel. He now works full time in private practice.

Dr. Micha Abeles received his MD from and completed his internship and residency through the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. A former all-Ivy League fencer for Cornell University, he has coached the sport at the University at Buffalo and the College of William & Mary. Before beginning his career at UConn, Dr. Abeles served in the U.S. Army as the chief of the Outpatient Department and Special Clinics at Fort Monroe.
